Callooh Callay Present the Shoreditch (End of) Summer Party

Callooh Callay End of Summer Party

It appears that summer may slowly be drifting away from us. Just the other weekend I was at an ‘Indian Summer’ party but surely as we get nearer to October we have to admit that Summer has truly left us? Luckily those lovely boys and girls at Callooh Callay are giving summer a decent farewell [...]

London Cocktail Society – Inaugural Meet

69 Colebrooke Row - Lab1

Last week the London Cocktail Society held their first meeting, so whats the lowdown? What happens when cocktails meet science? That’s something that is happening at 69 Colebrooke Row, and even though the bar may appear to be akin to any others (but serving great drinks). The upstairs is where the owner, Tony Congilarino, has [...]

Bodega, Birmingham – New Bar Opening

Bodega Birmingham

The whispers are true. A few months back we heard of a new bar opening in Birmingham, that had a good team behind it from other venues.

That bar is Bodega, based on Bennetts Hill and opening on the 14th September. It’s from the people behind the Island Bar, Jekyll and Hyde and the Victoria. It’s aiming to be a South American Bar and Cantina, but thats about all we know so far.

the Hawksmoor cocktail menu

Hawksmoor Steak

We have a little penchant for cocktails, as well as fine food. When you go to Hawksmoor you get the best of both. Great steaks, and great cocktails. It comes as no surprise that Hawksmoor was voted the best restaurant bar in the country. Over time, due to their success as a great restaurant the [...]

Review: Frank’s Campari Bar, 10th Floor, Peckham Multi-Story Carpark, London

Franks Campari Bar Area

A pop-up art project café on the top of the Peckham Multiplex – ten floors up in a disused car park – serving up lashings of bitter orange Campari cocktails on wooden benches underneath a tarpaulin looking out across the whole of London. As concepts go, it’s difficult to top, even in this saturated city.

Review: Purl, Marylebone, London

Purl - Negroni

We paid a visit to Purl, London the other weeks. Take a look at the review of Purl.
The venue itself feels cosy, when you walk in you might just assume it’s a tiny bar, with just two seats at the bar and a few comfy chairs. Yet go explore and you’ll find hidden away snugs, a piano, old curiosites and posters and bookshelf wallpaper.

Review: Hotel du Vin, Church St, Birmingham

Hotel du Vin Birmingham

Hotel du Vin, Church St, Birmingham Hotel bars are always a classic destination for people seeking cocktails, for some reason they always [usually] serve to a high standard. Now, a hotel known for wine, will it be any good for cocktails? On entering the hotel, you are greeted by an ornate hallway and you need [...]

Ferragosto at 69 Colebrooke Row

Our lovely friends at 69 Colebrooke Row are once again celebrating the Italian festival Ferragosto. There will be live music, the ever delicious cocktails, food and Italian movies. As well as alcoholic and non alcoholic ice creams, all sounding like a scrumptious feast! All taking place this Sunday 15th August, from 2pm till midnight. If [...]

Review: BANK, Brindley Place, Birmingham

Bank Restaurant Birmingham Front

Bank is one of the finer restaurants that exist within Brindley Place (Birmingham), it is only a stone throw away from your All Bar One, Cafe Rouge and such. Yet it delivers a totally different experience, both in the food the serve (some delightful prix fixe menus) and the range of cocktails their bar ofers.

This is a great place for a pre, and post dinner cocktail. The atmosphere is very relaxed, though from my experience they don’t offer table service (well, unless you are dining)! Also with Brindley Place being a sun trap, you can wile away the afternoon here.

Hidden Gems: Serpentine Gin Bar, Hyde Park

Gin Bar - Serpentine - Hyde Park

Drinking. In a park. No brown bags needed! If we were based in London, we’d be over to Hyde Park searching out for this Gin Bar. This is a classic van, setup to serve Gin based drinks. [mainly mixers, rather than cocktails, but I'm happy with that!]. Thanks to the lovely girls over at Domestic [...]
