Beefeater Winter Gin – The Taste Test

Earlier in this year I mentioned about Beefeater Winter Gin, and since then I’ve been lucky to get my hands on a bottle.  If you weren’t aware Beefeater made a Summer Gin, earlier this year.  So it made sense to have something aimed for the winter market. It has been developed by Beefeater’s master distiller Desmond Payne, and the Beefeater Winter Edition includes additional botanicals such as cinnamon, nutmeg and pine shoots.

Beefeater Winter Hot Apple GinYou can really detect the nutmeg on the nose, and it’s got a nice warm feeling to it in the taste.  This wouldn’t be a G&T gin for me, but here is a suggested drink does suit.

Hot Apple Gin

50Ml Beefeater Winter
150Ml Cloudy Apple Juice

Heat the apple juice up and add to the Gin, ideally in a nice mug. I’d garnish it with grated nutmeg, and it’s also delicious with the addition of some ginger syrup.

I served this to some guests on Saturday as they stepped through the door out of the cold, and it’s certainly nice to see  both gin and warmth on arrival

So whilst it may just seem to be seasonal marketing, I do see a place for Beefeater Winter in my spirit cupboard.  Just need to get a bottle of Beefeater 24 to keep it company

If you are looking for a bottle its around £17-£30, and  you should be able to get it from:
